Total war saga troy mythos release date4/19/2023 Otherwise Troy is a dependable and colourful game, with interesting mechanics inspired by Homer. The decision to forego fantastical characters yet incorporate concepts such as divine will always felt a bit odd, while it left the roster of units feeling slightly flat. Making the most of its settingĪ mythological revision may well see Troy reach its potential in the Total War series. A “Mythic Edition” will include the base game and the Mythos expansion, while a “Heroic Edition” will include the base game, Mythos expansion, as well as previous DLC. The updated A Total War Saga: Troy and its Mythos expansion will release on 2 September on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Changes include adjusting generals like Achilles from “one-man armies wielding the powers of gods” into individuals within a bodyguard. Bearing similarities with Three Kingdoms’ Records mode, it aims to prioritise a “realistic, history-first perspective”. I know that the pure historical fans have it rough currently, but be patient. In addition to Mythos, a new Historical mode will be introduced to all players of Troy. What should make me trust CA won't do it again with a Saga title that is juggling 3 modes, one of which is fantasy mode and will clearly get the most attention, as they have pretty much given up on truth behind the myth and past records of history mode?ĭon't worry dude, in the near future it's most likely they will release a proper historical game (Medieval III most likely). They dropped records mode after launch, that is in a game with only 2 modes and a mainline title. It's just a way of CA placating history players without actually committing to making an actual game or properly designed history mode. Historical mode, which will be no doubt garbage that removes content, events and units while adding nothing back or unique about itself like 3K romance mode did. This looks as bad as the Beasts of War DLC for Rome II.ĬA had a chance to hit a home run with Thracians, Cretans, and Ethiopians and instead they decided to appease the Warhammer fans.because three full blown games weren't enough. Hmm, based on FAQ we will have three modes, even with full blown historical mode as FLC. It will also shift the way CA produces DLC for this game in the future, as there will be voices clamoring for even more beasts and magic in lieu of fleshing out the game's historical elements. This upcoming DLC will take the game in a completely different direction, into the chaos of battling overpowered beasts Warhammer style, one that I cannot see myself enjoying. The way centaurs and Amazons are tied into the early usage of cavalry during the Bronze Age is nothing short of brilliant. It's not a bad concept, I've had a good bit of fun playing Warhammer I and II.Īll the same, Troy was produced and released as a historical game, that did a wonderful job toeing the line between the Bronze Age history while carefully implementing historically plausible elements from pagan myth. Warhammer taught CA that people are willing to spend coin on flying beasts in Total War games. It's funny you are blaming the Warhammer fans for that because they are also looking to please the Historical fans by releasing a historical mode. 2K A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia.846 A Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai.
